Handling of Biomedical Waste in at Home Services

While healthcare facilities have specific practices to safely manage hazardous waste, there are specific practices that must be performed in a patient’s home as well. Health professionals also must advise their home user clients verbally and in writing about the preferred approach for treating biological waste created in the home. Additionally, healthcare providers that provide in-home medical services must remove or have removed all biomedical waste created during these services by a registered biomedical waste transporter.
