Effective Infection Control Plan

With the recent escalation of the 2019-nCoV Coronavirus from the World Health Organization (WHO) which declared the new virus outbreak a “Public Health Emergency of International concern” now is the time to implement or revise your Infection Control Plan.

Four states within the U.S. have reported cases of the disease. Those states would be Washington, California, Illinois, and Arizona. Officials are extremely concerned about the rate at which the disease is spreading. As a result, the government took American citizens out of Wuhan.

The U.S. is not the only one getting their respective citizens out of the country. Many other countries have been extracting their citizens via chartered flights. Officials are worried that the number of cases may be as high as 100,000, according to CBS.

The Chinese government has also blocked all travel in and out of Wuhan. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is warning everyone to be especially careful. There is evidence that people not showing symptoms are also responsible for spreading the disease. Symptoms of coronavirus can show up within two days, according to the CDC.

Finally, while there is a need to worry, the spread of coronavirus indicates the need for proper infection control. It is a fast-spreading disease, so maintaining the highest standards are crucial for the safety of everyone in the workforce. Doctors are encouraging staff and employees to wash hands often to help reduce contamination. It is important to have proper safety protocols and be well educated on infection control topics. American Medical Compliance can help you implement an effective Infection Control Plan and bring your practice into total compliance.
