The main purpose of this standard is to provide quality care that is responsive to the needs of diverse cultural groups. It is important to educate employees to ensure equity in healthcare between all groups and all cultures.
For individuals with language needs, facilitate access to services that provide linguistic assistance. Avoid hiring unqualified professionals to conduct this assistance.
In addition to having appropriate organization goals, you should also assess occurrences that are related to CLAS measures. Assessments should occur in regard to the needs of each community. Most importantly, have a system in place to identify problems and complaints. There also should be a process for resolving those complaints and problems in a manner that displays cultural competence when they arise.
Scenario Test
Near the conclusion of the course, you will be presented with scenarios where you will think critically about the course content and apply that information to each scenario. Each scenario will require you to select the option that would represent the best course of action in each scenario.
