Coronavirus has broken out in China. Thus, it has been in global headlines as of recently. But, what exactly is it? It is mostly found in animals and rarely is seen in humans. Now, humans are catching the disease. It is similar to SARS and MERS. Two people have died so far.
Scientists have not discovered what caused the outbreak. Experts believe that the outbreak started in a fish market in Wuhan, China. Experts do not think the virus is especially contagious between humans, however, they are not entirely sure of what is perpetuating the outbreak.
The symptoms patients experience also seems to range. Some have flu-like symptoms, such as a runny nose and fever, while others have a more deadly response. Those include pneumonia-like symptoms. While there are still many questions about coronavirus, organizations such as Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization understand a few things.
It is typically spread in the air by sneezing or coughing. There is no known cure for it, only certain treatments that can lessen the impact. The CDC recommends washing your hands often, and not touching your face with unwashed hands. Staying away from people who are sick is also important. For now, the CDC recommends using a humidifier and also taking fever medications.
The CDC has issued a warning to those traveling to China.
