Discrimination Types
There are various types of discrimination like age, disability, and gender. This course goes in-depth on all of them and what they entail. This involves treating specific individuals differently than others. The Equal Pay Act (EPA) protects employees from pay-related discrimination.
Additionally, you will learn about the protections from retaliation as a result of filing a claim of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The EEOC is a federal agency that is tasked with enforcing civil rights laws against work discrimination.
Filing a Charge
Aside from the Equal Pay Act, all laws enforced by the EEOC require filing a charge. Through this course, you will learn about the process of filing a charge asserting an organization has committed an act of discrimination. It is important that the process is followed and all time limits are considered. These time limits are dependent on where they occurred.
Following filing a claim, you can check the status of the charge through the EEOC public portal. In this portal, you can also update your representation, request statements from respondents, and check the status of the charge among other functions. Additionally, if the investigation is closed they will notify you with their decision.
