Additionally, the ABCDEF bundle is an interdependent, multi-component, evidence-based guidance for the coordination of multidisciplinary ICU care that can be used to execute many of the symptom-based ICU PAD guidelines. Moreover, the ABCDEF bundle has a component that corresponds with each letter of the acronym. Also, these 6 components include:

- B: Both Spontaneous Awakening Trials (SAT) and Spontaneous Breathing Trials (SBT)
- C: Choice of analgesia and sedation
- D: Delirium: Assess, prevent, and manage
