Alliance Between OSHA and SMRP

OSHA has recently formed an alliance with the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP). Accordingly, their goal is to provide information and training to employees to prevent worker exposure to safety and health hazards.

OSHA and SMRP have set the agreement to last for two years. During that time, the alliance will incorporate safety and health information into SMRP’s certification training programs. Presumably, this training will help reduce and prevent exposure to common hazards workers might face.

Additionally, SMRP also intends to work with OSHA to engage safety and health professionals as well as their employers in agency outreach initiatives.

“‘This alliance demonstrates our joint commitment to develop and provide valuable safety and health information to help employers and employees identify job related hazards and prevent workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities,’ said Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Loren Sweatt” (OSHA).

Hopefully, this new union will only serve to improve the safety and health of employees going into the future.
