Coronavirus Cases Continue to Rise
The number of COVID-19 cases is still increasing, rather than decreasing, in many states across the nation. This has led many experts to believe a second wave of coronavirus is possible coming this fall.
The Washington Post stated that 29 states have a higher weekly case average compared to the average on June 14. Many states have seen an increase in cases after they loosened their restrictions.
The increase in case numbers have been a focal point in politics recently. President Trump announced at his Tulsa rally that he wants officials to slow COVID-19 testing. By doing so, this will stop the rise in coronavirus cases in the U.S. His administration, however, later explained that his statement was merely a joke.
A Second Wave of Coronavirus
Dr. Fauci (the nation’s director of infectious diseases) and other officials have said the U.S. is still experiencing its first wave of this pandemic. Before this wave is over, the nation would need to see a significant drop in numbers for a long time period.
According to the White House, Trump’s administration is saving supplies to prepare for a potential second wave of coronavirus in the fall. Peter Navarro of the Trump Administration stated: “You prepare for what can possibly happen — I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but of course you prepare.”
